A fraudulent web site claiming to belong to UnionPay had been discovered, the Southern Metropolitan News quoted a man surnamed Huang as saying Wednesday.
Huang said he received an e-mail, saying UnionPay had opened an online balance inquiry service at http://www.cnbank-yl.com, and that people who logged onto the Web site would be eligible to win a prize.
Huang visited the Web site, and discovered that the Web site was simply designed, with couples of boxes for filling in personal details, including bank account and password.
Huang contacted the UnionPay and the Web site was confirmed fake.
The UnionPay later published an important notice on its official Web site www. Chinaunionpay.com, reminding people three Web sites http://www.nihaoqq.com, http://cnbank-yl.com and http://haodx.com/url/12578.htm were fraudulent and UnionPay would close them down.
People who have doubts about online UnionPay transactions can contact UnionPay customer services at 83172288 or 95516.
People are told to call the police when they confront frauds.
