A recent survey conducted by the Shanghai Sunshine Youth Community shows that nearly 69 percent of interviewees in the city support restricting tobacco and alcohol sales to people over the age of 18, while close to 74 percent believe the rule is not enough.
The survey also shows that many teenagers believe smoking and drinking is fashionable, despite the numerous health problems associated with both practices.
Many commentators believe the attitude has a great deal to do with social and media-related influences. As a result, the community is urging the public to offer correct information on the potential damages of smoking and alcohol abuse.
