Children's drama Hi, Lovely! debuted Friday evening at the capital's Century Theatre.
This is the second big production by Beijing Children's Art Theatre since last year's hit Labyrinth.
The drama has so far taken over two million yuan at the box office, with half of its tickets being sold.
Through the perspective of a little boy named Lovely, the drama expresses children's wishes to be themselves instead fulfilling all of their parent's expectations.
Zou Jing, author of the new play, said the theatre company hoped to produce a drama that really touched the hearts of children, and taught them things they wouldn't otherwise learn.
Hi, Lovely! will hit the stage 14 times before closing.
