Cui Jian to Perform at Live Vocals 3rd Anniversary

The Live Vocals 3rd anniversary concert will be held in Beijing on Saturday.

The main drive behind the event Cui Jian and other famous singers and bands, such as Shui Mu Nian Hua, Gao Qi & Overload, Hang on the Box, will take to the stage.

This concert is not only an anniversary performance, but also the greatest reply to the Commercial Performance Administrative Rules passed by Ministry of Culture.

The Manifesto of the Live Vocals Movement argues that live vocals are a right, not only for the public interest but also as a method of self-defense. The manifesto pleads for fans not to keep silent, because even silence itself is cheating.

On August 7, 2002, flyers and handbills for the first Live Vocals show were posted in CD Bar. Veteran rocker Cui Jian appeared as agent provocateur while Luo Dayou and other pop stars made guest appearances.

Cui Jian has since been on a constant crusade to have non-live vocal performances labeled as such on the tickets and advertisements, so that fans will know whether the performers are actually singing or merely lip-synching.
