Over 300 Foreign Colleges Compete for Chinese Students

The 10th China International Education Exhibition, hosted by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), will commence in Beijing this weekend. The Exhibition will showcase more than 350 colleges, universities and educational institutions from 27 countries and regions, including the U.K., France, Holland, Ireland, Canada, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.

At this Exhibition, many countries will roll out preferential policies favoring Chinese students, hoping to attract more applicants.

Government education authorities of the U.K., France, Holland, Ireland, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand will lead their country delegations to the Exhibition to ensure the quality of the participating colleges and universities.

With the growing market of overseas study programs, the receipt of high-standard education abroad has become the mainstream for Chinese students. Shao Wei, deputy director of CSCSE stated that among self-pay students studying abroad, the percentage of post-graduate students has been gradually increasing in recent years. From 1991 to 2004, the number of Master degree holders has exceeded 18,000, accounting for more than 70% of all accredited students with overseas educational background and degrees at CSCSE.
