The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) is placed No. 25 in a worldwide ranking of business school research conducted by the University of Texas at Dallas, HKUST said Wednesday.
The top-25 positions were dominated by US schools with the exception of HKUST and one European school, INSEAD (15th). HKUST was also the only Asian Pacific school that hit the top-50 list, ahead of many renowned schools including Cornell (28th), UC Berkeley (29th), London Business School (34th), and Yale (39th), according to HKUST.
Dean K.C. Chan of HKUST Business School said, "We are pleased that HKUST was ranked among the world's best and the quality of our faculty's academic research was rated so highly by this survey. Research and teaching go hand in hand. The findings of our faculty research will bring benefits into the classroom and enrich the learning experiences of our students."
The researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas studied the research contributions of business schools based on their publications in 22 leading business journals in the period between2000-2005. A total of 100 schools were ranked, including 83 schools from the US, six from Asia, six from Canada, four from Europe and one from Australia.
