French musicians will come to Hong Kong in June to present six free concerts within the framework of the "Year of France" in China.
The concerts were jointly organized by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong, Alliance Francaise and Fringe Club, according to sources from the French Consulate General in Hong Kong Monday.
The sources said that the consulate general spent a great amount of money to hire two teams of musicians, "Nilda Fernandez" and "French Colors" to come to Hong Kong for the free concerts, so as to thank the support of Hong Kong through the "Year of France" in China.
They said the "French Colors," grouping 12 talented and young artists, who received prizes without being already known by a large public, will stage high scale chamber concerts.
Promoting the stars of tomorrow is another aim of staging the concerts, said the sources.
The concerts will focus on French chamber music almost composed between 1860 and 1940 but could contain also some contemporary music and several internationally famous works of Mozart and Beethoven.
Hong Kong began to launch the activities of the "Year of France" in China on Oct. 12, 2004. French President Jacques Chirac came all the way to Hong Kong for the opening ceremony.
