A ceremony was held at Beijing Art Museum on Friday to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Hu Jieqing, a master of Chinese painting.
Hu is also wife of Lao She, one of the best-known Chinese writers who killed himself at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).
At the ceremony, the children of Lao She and Hu Jieqing donated their mother's 67 paintings to the Lao She Memorial Hall.
In 1951, Hu began to follow Qi Baishi, a great master of Chinese painting in modern China, and later she became very skillful at painting trees and flowers.
A painting show of Hu was opened Friday at the museum and will last to Dec. 29. Meanwhile, Jieqing Gallery was opened online at the Web site of the Lao She Memorial Hall.
