The children's play Magic Mountain will debut in the Chinese Spring Festival (lunar new year) and present the children with the world's largest icecream cake.
Meng Jinghui, director of the play said here Tuesday that the cake would have the image of the play's major character, "Bear Paipai," as its cover. The cake, designed as a square 4.8 meters in length, three meters in width, and one meter in height, will refresh the current Guinness World Records for the largest icecream cake. It will be eight tons in weight, 2.5 tons more than the current Guiness holder, made in 2004 in the United States.
The local manufacturer, known for its Baxy icecream brand, said a cake of such a big size and made of pure milk is very difficult to make, transport and store. The manufacturer will put 792 pieces of icecream bricks together inside the "mountain," and 12 professionals will decorate it.
Meng revealed that the cake will be delivered to the audience as a present in 40,000 boxes, given approval by the Guiness World Records.
The Magic Mountain will bring another harvest to Meng both of fame and fortune. Previously, Meng directed his first children's play Labyrinth, which had a record box revenue of 6.8 million yuan (around US$822,000). The Magic Mountain is to premiere in the Spring Festival (Chinese lunar new year) that falls on Jan. 29.
