A program mixing music genres and combining music appreciation and music knowledge will make its debut on the music channel of the China Central Television (CCTV) on Monday.

The program, titled "Songs From Heart," will break the barrier of the Chinese traditional concept about music by mingling genres of music, according to the producer of the program.

It will feature bel canto songs of Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras, jazz songs of Diana Krall and Norah Jones, pop songs of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey, folk songs of Eagles and John Denver, rock-and-roll songs of The Beatles and Sting, and disco songs of ABBA, the producer said.

"These will dramatically hit our audience with stereo sound," he said.

In addition, music knowledge such as the history of jazz and musical, genres of the rock-and-roll, composition of the film songs and prominent composers will also be shown in the program, he said.
