David Russell, so called one of the world greatest performers of the classical guitar, will give performance on March 17 at the concert hall, Hong Kong City Hall.

Considered "a talent of extraordinary dimension" by New York Times, the Scottish-born guitar performer is expected to show his remarkable skills in a guitar recital to be staged on March 17 evening.

He will perform music works by Sor, Granados, Bach and Tarrega as well as four Scottish pieces recomposed by himself.

The program includes Morceau de Concert Pour La Princess Adelaide by Sor; Spanish Dance No. 5 and La Maja de Goya by Granados; Chaconne by Bach; Danza Mora and Carnival of Venice by Tarrega.

Born in Scotland, David Russell moved to Spain during his childhood, where he was introduced to the guitar by his father. He has won nearly all the major international guitar competitions, including Jose Ramirez Guitar Competition, the Andres Segovia Competition and the Francisco Tarrega Competition.

In recognition of his great talent and his international career, he was named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1997.

A master class by David Russell will also be held on March 18 at the recital hall, Hong Kong City Hall.
