A total of 40 secondary schools have entered the 20th Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad (HKMO) Final to be held in March, according to the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The schools were among some 250 secondary schools delegating over 1,400 students to participate in the Heat of HKMO.
"Held for the 20th straight year, HKMO aims at promoting mathematics education in Hong Kong," an EMB spokesman said Sunday.
"The schools were each allowed to send a team comprising four to six students at Secondary Four or below to take part in the Heat. In both the Individual Event and the Group Event, participating students and teams were all required to tackle a set of 10 questions," the spokesman added.
The Heat was held late last month. The top 40 teams in the Heat will take part in the Final scheduled for March 22.
