High Students in Guangdong Enjoy Studying Abroad
Adjust font size:

According to Guangzhou Daily, the China International Education Exhibition launched by the Ministry of Education in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, has attracted more than 7,000 students and their parents.

Ms. He, 40, consulted teachers from an Australian high school. She hoped her son could receive education in a foreign high school, which she believed would also help him to enroll in a prestigious university abroad.

Our reporter found that many children together with their parents came to inquire how to enroll in a foreign high school. Although tuition fees are high, and visas are difficult to get, many families still hope to send their children to get high schools abroad. Most of them try to avoid the huge pressure of obtaining admission by domestic universities.

Our reporter also found that most junior high school students who came to the exhibition were less than 18, and they came to the exhibition more or less at their parents' will.

In recent years, more and more students in Guangdong choose to study in high schools abroad. Che Weimin, an official from the Ministry of Education, revealed that the number of young Guangzhou students studying abroad is even higher than that of Beijing, Shanghai and Zhejiang. He gave two reasons for this. First is the economy has been developing rapidly in Guangdong, and there are more rich people than other places in China. Second is the increasing international cultural exchanges have helped to enhance people's desire to live and study abroad.
