"Super Girl" program host Li Xiang may appear on stage at the 2007 CCTV Spring Festival Gala in February as a co-host.

Shanghai Youth Daily Monday said gala director Jin Yue had invited the high-profile hostess to the job, which is a career dream of many hosts.

Li Xiang reportedly said she was quite interested, but didn't give further comment.

The 30-year-old is said to be the most well-known TV hostess in southern China after co-hosting the extremely popular "Super Girl" singing competition on Hunan TV.

CCTV's attempt is described as trying to break the gala's tradition of being partial to northern culture.

Li Xiang was approached by the Beijing TV in December and now hosts a daily show on entertainment news for the station.
