Committee Demands New UN Resolution on Iraq

An Iraqi parliamentary committee demanded on Tuesday a new UN resolution to re-adjust the relation between the Iraqi government and foreign forces.

A statement issued by the National Assembly (parliament) said Noori al-Maliky, member of the sovereignty committee, submitted a report to parliament complaining violations of Iraq's sovereignty by the foreign forces.

"The sovereignty is violated by the foreign troops in several ways, including foreign advisors in all ministries, especially defense and interior ministries," Maliky said in his report.

The Iraqi intelligence is still controlled by the occupation forces, the statement said, adding that the multinational forces, which run Iraq's prisons, still enjoy immunity granted by the former US administrator in Iraq.

It also demanded a timetable for the withdrawal of the Multinational Forces from the country.
