Nicaraguan Army Commander Omar Halleslevens said on Friday Nicaragua would deploy a small military unit specialized in mine clearance to Iraq by the end of the war, if authorized by the parliament.
Halleslevens indicated the proposal will be presented to the parliament by President Enrique Bolanos.
"If the parliament endorses, the army will go to Iraq when considered appropriate," he said, adding that the army has the capability and intention to send sappers to Iraq.
