Iraq shot down a helicopter and a warplane from the US-led coalition forces, while US and British troops destroyed huge quantities of foodstuffs in Basra on Saturday, Iraqi Information Minister Mohammad Said Al-Sahaf said Sunday.
Iraq shot down a US Apache helicopter, killing its two pilots near Basra, and a coalition forces' warplane was downed by "ordinary Iraqis," Al-Sahaf told a press conference.
Al-Sahaf again took a swipe at the US and British invading troops, describing them as "racists," "war criminals" and "coward mercenaries."
He also said US and British troops set ablaze and destroyed huge quantities of foodstuffs stored in Basra and prevented ships carrying aid for Iraq from reaching the southern port city.
