United States Secretary of State Colin Powell will hold talks with NATO and European Union (EU) foreign ministers on Iraq in Brussels on Thursday, the European Commission said Tuesday.
Reijo Kemppinen, chief spokesman of the EC, the EU's executive arm, said Powell "will meet at the premises of NATO with the EU troika," namely Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou, EU external relations commissioner Chris Patten and foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
Greece currently holds the EU presidency.
"He will also have a meeting with the NATO (decision-making) council and a joint lunch with EU and NATO foreign ministers, those who are present," he told a daily news briefing.
But Kemppinen said it was not clear how many EU ministers would attend the meeting on the US-led war in Iraq and postwar reconstruction.
The United States launched military attacks on Iraq on March 20.
