Nearly 3,000 Ecuadorians participated Wednesday in a peaceful march in downtown Quito, in protest against the US-led war against Iraq.
The prefect of the northern province of Pichincha, Ramiro Gonzalez, headed the protest joined by hundreds of students from public schools and households.
The march started in Independence Square in central Quito, where several groups danced and sang peace songs, while children asked the US government to end this "unnecessary war."
During the march, several individuals were dressed as Arabs and people were carrying a paper dragon as a symbol of war.
