US President George W. Bush returned to the White House on Tuesday afternoon after a two-day summit with British Prime Minister Tony Blair on postwar Iraq in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Bush's Marine One helicopter touched down on the South Lawn of the White House around 5:00 p.m. (21:00 GMT).
During a news conference after the summit, Bush and Blair have expressed support for a vital United Nations role in rebuilding postwar Iraq.
Bush said the US-led coalition will move as quickly as possible to establish an interim authority in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime.
Both leaders agreed that the international community, including the United Nations, should play an important role in rebuilding Iraq. But they also stressed that the Iraqi people will govern their own country.
Earlier reports indicated Britain had wanted a more prominent role for the United Nations in postwar Iraq than the Bush administration advocates.
