Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi is scheduled to visit the United States and the Middle East from late this month to early May, mainly to exchange views on the reconstruction of Iraq, Kyodo News agency reported Thursday.
Kawaguchi is expected to meet with US Secretary of State Colin Powell and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, stating Japan's plan on the reconstruction in Iraq, Kyodo quoted diplomatic sources as saying.
In the Middle East, she is expected to visit Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian self-rule region to discuss with their leaders the assistance plans for Iraq's reconstruction and neighboring countries, the sources said.
Kawaguchi is tentatively scheduled to leave Japan on April 24, but it has not been decided whether she will visit the United States or the Middle East first, the sources added.
