Two French nationals were killed and a third one was injured by gunmen outside Fallujah, 50 km west of Baghdad on Monday, the US military said on Tuesday.
The attackers shot the Frenchmen from a passing vehicle near Fallujah, a restive Iraqi city, late Monday, Gen. Charles Swannack told reporters at a press conference.
"They were basically gunned down by some terrorists," said Swannack, whose troops took charge of the al-Anbar Province, home of the volatile town.
The victims were not identified, but reports said they were working with the US-led coalition.
