Screening of Sino-Finnish Film Jade Warrior in China
Adjust font size:

Jade Warrior, the first-ever Sino-Finnish co-production, will screen in Chinese cinemas on October 24.

Inspired by the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, the film tells the tale of a love-struck hero who fights against the restrictions of modern life searching for a love that transcends time and place. After he embarks on a journey to be reunited with his love, he discovers his true origin, his skill as a warrior and his destiny.

In a move which the film's young director describes as risky but exciting Nordic mythology and Chinese martial arts come together in fight scenes.

The director, Antti-Jussi Annila, invited well known Finnish actor Tommi Eronen and Chinese starlet Zhang Jingchu to play the lead roles in the film. Shooting locations include Finland, Estonia and China's Zhejiang Province.

The movie has its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival in September.
