Monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism in China

Contents: Tibetan Buddhism is one of the three main branches of Chinese Buddhism. With its heartland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it has a history of more than 1,000 years. In the seventh century, Buddhism spread to the Tubo Kingdom in present-day Tibet from China's Central Plains area and Nepal. It was adopted by the nobility, and later caught on among the common people.
