The chief negotiators of the six-party talks on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue are scheduled to hold their first meeting at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing Tuesday afternoon.
The delegation heads include: Wu Dawei from China, Kim Kye-gwan from North Korea, Christopher Hill from the US, Song Min-soon from South Korea, Alexander Alexeyev from Russia and Kenichiro Sasae from Japan.
The delegations will also hold one-on-one meetings before the group meeting, which is the first one in the second phase of the fourth round six-party talks, according to diplomatic sources.
The six-party talks was set to resolve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsular through peaceful means. China has hosted three rounds of such talks since 2003.
The fourth round talks recessed on August 7 after discussing the nuclear issue for 13 days.
The second-phase talks will focus on the settlement of the difference between North Korea and the US, the sources said.
The US required North Korea to give up all nuclear programs but North Korea insisted that it has the right over peaceful use of nuclear energy.
