The death toll from the 8.2-magnitude earthquake that rocked the Indonesian island of Nias on March 28 has risen to 839 from earlier report of 671, local media reported Wednesday.
The number of people killed in the disaster rose sharply as officials in Nias began collecting casualty reports from all-affected districts, reported the Antara news agency.
The earthquake also injured 2,992 people in Nias off Sumatra island's west coast.
