The National People's Congress (NPC) opened its first official website on Friday after one-year of trials.

More than 100 high Chinese officials, including vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Wang Zhaoguo and Sheng Huaren, attended the opening ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The website (www.npc.gov.cn) will provide authoritative news about legislation, legal documents, information on NPC deputies and science and research works on laws, according to director of the website.

The launch of the official website is believed to improve the efficiency of the NPC work units, and strengthen the exchange between ordinary people and the country's top legislature.
