A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) called for more efforts to maintain social stability for creating a social environment conducive to the rejuvenation of northeast China, the country's old industrial base.
Luo Gan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made an inspection tour to Heilongjiang Province between Sept. 7 and 11.
Luo, also the secretary of the Commission of Politics and Law of the CPC Central Committee, asked the local governments to endeavor for preventing and reducing social contradictions from the origins and earnestly make all possible efforts for maintaining social stability.
The endeavor should be made from the grass-roots, he said, emphasizing the importance of mediation work among the people.
He also called on the local governments to establish a system to effectively prevent and crack down crimes, strengthen the management over migrant population, and enhance the supervision over the Internet.
Luo also placed the emphasis on the law enforcement, asking the local governments to standardize the law-enforcing practice of every post.
"We should work hard to create favorable social environment in an effort to revive the old industrial base and build up an well-off society nationwide," he said.
