China is to deal with the Yang Bin case according to the law even though he holds a Dutch passport, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Thursday.
Liu said that Yang, who was arrested on November 27 in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, had been charged with fraudulent investment schemes, bribery, fraudulent contracts and illegal occupancy of farm lands.
Due to Yang holding a passport issued by The Netherlands, China had informed the Dutch Embassy in China of the arrest in accordance with international practice, Liu said.
China's judiciary would deal with the case according to Chinese law even though he held a Dutch passport, Liu said.
Yang, chairman of the board of directors and legal representative of the Shenyang Euro-Asia Group, has been under investigation by the police since October 4.
