China has praised the Sudanese government's efforts in implementing United Nations Security Council resolution 1556.
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing made the remarks while meeting his Sudanese counterpart Mustafa Othman Ismail in Alexandria, Egypt.
Li Zhaoxing called for the combined efforts of the Sudanese government and the international community for an early and proper settlement of the Darfur issue.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister briefed Li Zhaoxing on the latest developments in Darfur and the measures taken by the Sudanese government to alleviate the crisis. He also thanked the Chinese government for sending a special envoy to visit Sudan.
On the same day in Cairo, Li Zhaoxing met the foreign ministers of Lybia, Tunisia and Jordan and pledged cooperation with the three countries within the framework of the Sino-Arab and Sino-Africa Cooperation Forums.
On Tuesday, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing attended the first ministerial meeting of the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum in Cairo.
