55th Anniversary of China, DPRK Diplomatic Ties Marked

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) gave a reception in Beijng Tuesday to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

CPAFFC Vice President Wang Yunze said China and DPRK (North Korea) are close neighbors that have witnessed an ever deepening friendly and cooperative relationship over past 55 years.

"The friendship has greatly contributed to the socialist cause in both China and the DPRK and to regional peace and stability as well," he said.

Wang noted that the Chinese government "highly values" the growth of the Sino-DPRK relationship and will "enhance exchanges at all levels and in all fields to carry forward the traditional friendship."

"To enhance and advance the traditional friendship is an unswerving policy pursued by the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government and a sincere hope of the Chinese people," he acknowledged. "We are willing to make unremitting efforts to further develop the traditional friendship together with the DPRK."

DPRK Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su said whatever the world situation is, the DPRK will cherish its traditional friendship with China and do its utmost to further strengthen and develop the friendship between the two countries.
