Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan met in Beijing Wednesday with William Owens, president and chief executive officer of Nortel Networks, the Canada-based telecom giant.

The two sides exchanged views on global development of the telecommunication industry and its impact on China's economic growth. They also discussed the potential cooperation between Nortel Networks and the Chinese side.

Owens is in China at the invitation of China's State Development and Reform Commission.
