Chinese, Philippine FMs Hold Phone Talks

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing has held talks over phone with Philippine Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo.

During the conversation, Li Zhaoxing clarified China's principle and stance on Taiwan and on developing friendly Sino-Philippine cooperative ties.

Romulo said the Philippine government was committed to developing bilateral friendship, sticking to the one-China policy and opposing "Taiwan independence", adding that the Philippine government would not do anything that might facilitate "Taiwan independence".

Li Zhaoxing is accompanying President Hu Jintao at the 12th Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the Chilean capital Santiago.
