The upcoming international conference on Iraq will focus on three areas including the political process, economic recovery and security, a senior US official said at a briefing in Washington on Friday.
"The areas of discussion will be three. One is the political process; two is the economic recovery, including the integration of Iraq into the international economic system; and then finally, there will be a discussion of security issues, which will primarily be focused on strengthening the rule of law in Iraq," said Richard Jones, coordinator for Iraq policy in the Bush administration.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will attend the Iraq international conference, which will be held in Brussels on June 21-22.
Jones said this will not be a donors conference as there will be such a conference in Jordan on July 18-19. (Xinhua News Agency June 18, 2005)
