An "Israeli Day" was launched in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, aiming to boost the communication and cooperation between the two sides.
Ambassador of Israel to China Yehoyada Haim addressed the opening ceremony of the "Israeli Day & Shenyang-Israel Business Cooperation Seminar" that although Israel was of poor nature endowment, such as little water and arable land, its export volume reached US$1.5 billion annually, due to the development of agricultural technology in water-saving, and the improvement in the quality of arable land and its productivity.
With outstanding achievements in high-tech, such as in agricultural technology and medical technology, Israeli enterprises hope to development long-time cooperation with Chinese companies, said Haim.
As a central city in northeast China, Shenyang is now facing a rare development opportunity as China's policy is preferential for the rejuvenation of its northeast industrial base. Israeli agricultural technology can be good example for Shenyang, and the future and potential of cooperation between Shenyang and Israel are huge, said Li Baoquan, Deputy Mayor of Shenyang.
An exhibition of "Albert Einstein--Man of the Century" was also held on the activity, which is co-sponsored by Shenyang Municipal People's Government and the Embassy of Israel in Beijing.
According to statistics from Israeli Embassy in Beijing, the trade volume between China and Israel amounted to US$2.2 billion in 2004, a 44 times increase from 10 years ago.
