Red Blue White, the Impression of France a ballet from Paris' Opera House will be performed in Beijing Exhibition Theater on 16th, 17th September.
The tragedy tells of a family in the south of France, whose eldest son falls passionately in love with a farm girl from Arles who breaks his heart.
In 1866, Alphonse Daudet published his book Letters de Mon Moulin. In the book, he told a story about the girl from Arles. Six years later, Daudet created a three-act tragic play on the basis of the book Letters de Mon Moulin. The impresario Leon Carvalho reached agreement with Daudet to make a staging of the story and Bizet was commissioned to write incidental music for the play in 1872.
The French spirit of "Red, Blue and White" were reflected through three ballet works. The red prelude named "Bolero" stands for burning enthusiasm; the blue one "L'arlesienne" impresses the audience with its pathos while the white suites brings romance in its climax of pure dancing.
Modern film-making methods are used in the performance and the classic is given a fresh burst of life.
Paris' Opera House developed from Royal Academy of Dancing set up by Louis XIV 344 years ago. Its ballet group is among the top-4 best-known around the world.
