The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) on Thursday donated US$100,000 to the American Red Cross (ARC), to help it with the relief work in areas hit by Hurricane Katrina.
The donation was received by David Sedney, chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy in China, and the visiting delegation of ARC.
The RCSC has been concerned about the families affected by Hurricane Katrina. RCSC Vice President Jiang Yiman has sent a message of sympathy to the ARC President Marsha J. Evans on behalf of RCSC members and volunteers, said the RCSC.
Katrina is one of the most severe hurricanes in American history, causing US$25 billion of economic losses and affecting some 5 million people. Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are the worst hit states.
