Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday praised a former French Prime Minister for his effort to promote Sino-French relations during and after his term.
"China and France strengthened political trust and strategic talks, and enjoyed fruitful economic and trade cooperation over the past year, and this is attributed able to Mr. Rafarin when he was on the post," said Wen during his meeting with Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former French prime minister.
Wen stressed that both China and France are important countries, and have shared a similar view on international issues concerning peace and development.
"Enhancing Sino-French cooperation is in the need of the two countries, and also helps the two sides confront the complicated and changeable international situation," Wen said, hoping the two sides continue to push forward the all-round and strategic partnership.
Rafarin pledged to continue his effort to promote cooperation between the two countries on economy, science, culture, and personnel exchanges.
