Leaders of the Mexican congress met with Wang Jiarui, a senior official of the Communist Party of China, respectively on Tuesday in a bid to promote bilateral cooperation.
Wang, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said China and Mexico are both big developing countries and the CPC treasures its traditional friendship with major parties of Mexico.
He said the CPC was ready to strengthen contact with the Mexican side, expand consensus and push the bilateral strategic partnership forward in an all-round way.
Manlio Fabio Beltrones Rivera, president of the Senate, told Wang that Mexico attached great importance to its ties with China and was willing to further develop the bilateral friendship and cooperation in the future.
Jorge Zermeno Infante, president of the Chamber of Deputies, told Wang during his meeting with the Chinese official that the friendship between the two countries conforms to historical trends and the fundamental interests of the two peoples.
The CPC delegation led by Wang arrived in Mexico City on Sunday for a good-will visit.
