China and the U.S. are to produce a TV documentary series to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Shanghai Communique, announced an official of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries
(CPAFFC).
The official said that the documentary, entitled Beijing Today,
will be produced to celebrate Beijing's success in its bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Beijing Today will be in seven parts, showing the great changes
in China, especially in Beijing, since the reform and opening-up
drive started, by telling the stories of Americans living in China and exchanges between the Chinese and U.S. peoples.
The documentary is expected to be broadcast on the Public
Broadcasting System (PBS) of the U.S. and Beijing Television and
China Central Television before Chinese President Jiang Zemin
visits the U.S. this October.
Beijing Today was sponsored by the CPAFFC and the U.S.-China
Cultural Exchanges Society and other institutes.
