Sony China, a Sony subsidiary headquartered in Beijing, officially launched the Sony Shanghai Technology Center in late June. It plans to employ a staff of nearly 100 by the end of this year.
Located in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, the US$1 million technology center has 3,400 square meters of floor space and 8,000 square meters reserved for expansion.
The center will focus on software and electronics components R&D to support production of Sony digital audio and video devices in China. It plans to employ a staff of nearly 100 by the end of this year.
In addition, Sony China will invest US$120 million in its factory in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, making the facility its largest production base in China.
