Satellite Remote Sensing Experimental Base Inaugurated in Guangxi
China's first provincial-level remote sensing experimental base for satellite meteorological service was inaugurated in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Saturday.

The base, which was built jointly by the China National Satellite Meteorological Center and the Guangxi Regional Meteorological Bureau, will offer a wide range of services, including remote sensing research on weather forecasts, natural disaster monitoring and ecological resources research.

A vast area with geographic diversity including mountains, rivers and forests, Guangxi is an ideal place for building the experimental base. The base's operation will help improve the precision rate of remote sensing technology, contribute to the reduction of disasters and facilitate environmental protection in Guangxi, said Zhang Wenjian, an official of the national satellite meteorological center.
