Beijing Rebuilds Subway Facilities

Beijing is to make its subway system more accessible to the disabled people as part of a 10-million-yuan (US$1.2 million) makeover plan.

Authorities say that toilets, telephones, blind tracks and staircases for wheelchairs will be either upgraded or installed.

Work on the project will be carried out at night, and it is expected to be completed in 2005.
