A new study carried out by the Plateau Medicine Research Center of Qinghai Medical Institute shows that doing moderate exercise on the plateau is an effective way to lose weight.
The average weight of people living on the plateau is lower than those living on the plain. The lower level of oxygen on the plateau causes a reduced appetite, and an increase in energy consumption.
A total of 115 railway workers on the plateau were studied, and the results showed that after they reached an altitude of 4,600 meters, their weight decreased by more than 10 percent within 30 days.
This shows that working in an oxygen deficient area is helpful to losing weight, and the heavier you are, the quicker you'll see the effects.
