From Friday, vehicles eastbound on Binhe Road, part of Shenzhen’s South Ring Road, will have to obey new traffic rules tailored to ease traffic pressure.
A Daily Sunshine report said vehicles on the two-way eight-lane road traveling toward Yantian District, Luohu Railway Station and East Ring Road in the eastern part of the city should stay in the main lanes on the left side of the road.
Others going to Luohu Checkpoint and Heping Road are required to change lanes to a right-hand side road at Shangbu Motorway Interchange or Hong-ling Motorway Interchange.
A new 300-meter railing will be installed between the main lanes and the side road between Ludancun and the Chunfeng Flyover. Drivers heading for Luohu Checkpoint and Heping Road will not be able to change direction if they miss the two interchanges.
The change is to reduce the heavy traffic on the two-way four-lane Chunfeng Flyover that cannot accommodate increasing traffic flows from Binhe Road. (Shenzhen Daily November 6, 2004)
