New Children's Park Opens in Guangzhou

The new Guangzhou Children's Park begins trial operations Tuesday, three years after the closure of the old one.

If everything goes smoothly, the park will officially open to public on the New Year's Day.

Besides traditional amusement facilities such as slides, swings, and seesaws, the children's park has set up many modern recreation facilities, including self-controlled bee-like plane and self rotating vehicles, among many others.

A 120-seat puppet theater will show free films for children. Designated as a special theater for scientific films, it now has more than 200 scientific films in store.

Admission to the park costs five yuan (US$0.6), but children shorter than 1.1 meters are free and those between 1.1 and 1.4 meters are entitled to half-price. Most of the amusement facilities in the park cost from two to 10 yuan.

At the juncture of Renji Road and Yide Road in Yuexiu District, 25 bus routes pass the children's park. There are also than 300 parking spaces underground.
