Weekly Weather Forecast (May 9 to 15)

Northwest China: May 9 to 10, western and northern Xinjiang and some eastern parts will see light rain or sleet with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in some areas, accompanied by force 4 to 5 northerly winds and cold temperatures throughout most of the region. May 11 to 13, western and southern Xinjiang, most of Qinghai and southwestern Gansu will continue to be overcast with possible light to moderate rainfall, or heavy rain in some places. May 14 to 15, another stream of cold air will affect most of the northwest.

 

North China: May 9, most of the region will be cloudy to overcast with scattered light showers in some areas. May 10, most parts will be overcast with showers expected, while the rest will be dominated by cloudy skies. May 11 to 12, eastern Inner Mongolia will see light to moderate rain or snowfall with force 4 to 6 southerly, then northerly winds and lower temperatures expected throughout most of the region. May 13 to 15, some northernmost parts will continue to see temporary light showers, while most of the north will be under sunny to cloudy skies with higher temperatures.

 

Northeast China: May 9 to 10, most of the region will get light to moderate rain or snowfall with force 4 to 6 northerly winds. May 11 to 12, affected by another stream of cold air, most of the northeast will see light to moderate rain or snow with heavy rain possible in some places, accompanied by force 4 to 6 southerly, then northerly winds as well as lower temperatures. May 13 to 15, some of the region will receive rain or snow showers at times, while most parts will be dominated by sunny to cloudy weather.

 

Central China: May 9 to 11, Hunan will have light to moderate rainfall, while some of the central and southern sections will meet heavy rain with temporary rain storms and strong winds expected in some areas. Other parts will be cloudy to sunny with possible showers appearing in some places. May 12 to 13, most parts will see light to moderate rain or showers, while western and northern Hunan, Hubei and some of Henan will get heavy rain or storms, accompanied by strong winds or hail. May 14 to 15, Hunan will continue to see overcast and rainy weather, while the rest will be sunny to overcast with possible showers.

 

East China: May 9 to 11, Jiangxi, Fujian, and most of Zhejiang will have light to moderate rain or showers, with heavy rain to rainstorms or torrential rain expected in some places, accompanied by strong winds. The remainder will be sunny to cloudy, with force 4 northerly winds and colder temperatures expected in areas north of the Huaihe. May 12 to 13, most of the east will experience light to moderate rain, while middle and northern parts of Jiangsu and Anhui, southern and eastern Shandong will receive heavy to stormy rainfall as well as strong winds and lightning rain. May 14 to 15, areas south of the Yangtze will continue to see overcast and wet days.

 

South China: Most of the region will see continued overcast and wet days this week. May 9 to 12, most parts will have light to moderate rainfall or showers with heavy rain or storms and even strong winds and hail expected in some of northern sections. May 13 to 15, most of the south will continue to have overcast to cloudy days with possible showers.

 

Southwest China: May 9 to 11, eastern Tibet and eastern parts of the region will be overcast with light to moderate rain or sleet, while south Sichuan, southern Chongqing and some of Guizhou will experience heavy rainfall with rain storms and temporary strong winds expected in some places. May 12, eastern Sichuan, Chongqing and some of Guizhou will receive thundershowers or moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds and rainstorms in some areas. May 13 to 15, eastern Tibet and some of the southwest will experience light to moderate rainfall or sleet showers.
