The Shenzhen government is planning to build about 300 more parks in the next five years to make the city greener.
It is part of the plans revealed in the government work report for 2005.
These parks will include 25 urban parks, 21 suburban parks and 250 community parks, according to Ye Guo, vice chief of the city's urban management bureau.
Ye said construction of the urban parks would be an important task for the city government over the next five years with an average of five urban parks to be built every year.
The city government has approved eight parks planned for this year, which include the Buxinshan suburban park, Yinhushan suburban park, Meilinshan suburban park, Luofang park, Honggang park, Antuoshan park, Hongshuwan park and a new children's park.
The new children's park, located on the Qiaoxiang Road, will be four times bigger than the current one on the Sungang Road East in Luohu District.
The 31.82-square-kilometer Wutongshan park in Luohu District is now preparing to apply for the state-level scenic spot this year.
The Qiniangshan suburban park being built in Longgang District is also preparing to apply for the national geological park this year.
