Macao to Outrun Las Vegas This Year

According to a news report of Macau Daily News, So Shu-fai, director of the Macao Lottery Co. Ltd (MLC), indicated that judging from current development of Macau's gambling industry, Macau will outrun Las Vegas to become the "city of gambling of the world" at the end of this year.

When participating in a tourism forum in Macau on June 29th, spokesmen of many gambling companies indicated that starting from next year, flagship casinos and hotels of various gambling companies and related projects will be completed one after another. Plus its unique cultural background, Macau is heading for the goal of the city of gambling, convention, exhibition and entertainment of Asia.

So Shu-fai said that with many large buildings and casinos completed in Macau one after another and the stimulation of the "solo tour" policy, Macau's tourist volume increasingly rose. Its revenue from gambling recorded an average growth of 20% in the past five years. With such trend, Macau will be able to take the place of Las Vegas at the end of this year and become the world's city of gambling.
