Transportation Scheme Publicized for Golden Week

In face of the heavy transportation load due to begin on October 1 and continue during the National Day holiday period, also known as the National Day golden week, Chinese Ministry of Railway publicized a transportation handling scheme on Thursday.

The temporary handling scheme lasts 10 days, starting from September, 28 and ending on October, 7.

Information from the Ministry of Railway showed that transportation peak would appear on October 1, when passenger flow volume could reach 4.1 million, 38,000 more than last year. Most passengers are going out for sightseeing purpose or paying visit to relatives.

21 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Wuhan will encounter the heaviest transportation load.

The Ministry of Railway has opened 82 pairs of express trains. Some of these trains go between tourist sites like Zhangjiajie, Xiamen, Wuyishan Mountain, Guilin, Shenzhen, Weihai and Lushan Mountain while others link big cities with tourist spots. The current trains, which take passengers to the revolutionary sites, also known as the “red tourism sites”, remain in service during the holidays.
